[Public-List] Un-stepping the mast

You don't describe how your mast is stepped, but certain mast steps and
tabernacles are configured to allow the mast to be lowered with the step
serving as a hinge point.  Bruce Bingham's 1983 The Sailor's Sketchbook
contains a chapter on single-handed masting that describes the procedure
for a ca. 26 ft. boat.  I've done it by myself on a similar boat with a
lighter spar, but I wouldn't recommend trying it without several helpers-
still the illustrations are very useful.
