[Public-List] Tiller to Rudder Connection

Jonathan,

In my experience, the "ears" where the bolt goes through the piece at 
the top of the rudder shaft bend inward slightly, and that's where the 
play comes in. I suggest a bushing between these, as mentioned on 
https://alberg30.org/maintenance/Steering/TillerHead.html
