Is the old standby Yanmar 2GM considered to be among the "new smaller lighter"
diesels? Or have their been big advances since then? 
I wish someone would design a 2 or 3 cylinder marine version of that great new
Volkswagen engine, the Turbo Direct Injected diesel that you can get on the
new Beetle or the Passat. Supposed to be so powerful, quiet and vibration
free, you can hardly tell it from a gas engine.
