Now that I have the engine out to get at the packing gland
 on the rudder shaft, I see that the 3/8" motor mounting pads 
are compressed to half their size.  This would throw the 
motor/shaft relationship out of alignment I'm sure.  
Has anyone tried a different material for the mounts?  
The present mounts are similar to the cross section of a 
tire carcass with cord layers moulded into the rubber.

ps. Since this is the first paragraph I've written on this page,
can someone tell me how to end the line without using hard returns?
