TO THE LIST:

I just came back from a July's day of spring cleaning my new A-30, and I came 
across some fittings whose purpose eludes me.  Portside, above the main cabin 
settee, there are six wooden fixtures, three on the bulkhead at each end of 
the berth, about belt-high.  It looked as if they might have been fittings to 
hold the ends of a pipe berth, but I cannot imagine why someone would want to 
rig one above the settee.  Any ideas as to their purpose?

While on the subject of unexplained details, could someone tell me the 
purpose of the hinged inset in the bridgedeck?  The past owner claimed that 
it was a step for smaller crew members, but I'm just not buying that one.
