Hi Bill
We have a Verna lift muffler install just aft of the A4.  We installed it to 
port of the dripless shaft seal, this allowed us to get to the seal for 
adjustments.  I glass the wooden support in with temp supports with I removed 
after it setup.
BTW  Two years ago we installed a PSS seal, it's great
