Dick, forgot to mention that a machinest friend machined that shiv to take 
3/8 " rope.  He just cut the groove bigger.  clean the sides too, they pick 
up some gunk over the years.  make sure it is very free when you reinstall.  
Rope is easier, safer, and cheaper to replace.
