[alberg30] replacing water tank hatch

In another bone-head move: when I went to inspect my water tank weeks ago, I suddenly remembered that I sealed the water tank hatch a year ago with--of course-- 3m5200. I did this to eliminate a leak from the threads in the hatch caused by a full tank. So now I had to unbolt the entire hatch, which of course wasn't sealed to the aluminum lid with anything but dried and cracking caulking from circa 1972. Now I can't unscrew the hatch from the flange ring because of my 5200 job.

Since I have the hatch and flange ring out of the aluminum lid, I am thinking about replacing the hatch, with a bigger one. The original one is about 5 1/2" inches (4 3/16" cutout). Maybe I'll go to 8"--would make cleaning easier right?

The question: Will I be able to cut a bigger hole in the aluminum lid with a jig saw?
