Just an FYI note.

Discovered this cool device today on the web which may be of interest to anyone wanting to replace the engine intake thru-hull / shut-off valve assembly:

 http://www.forespar.com/catalog/plumbing/engineflush.htm

The seacock - Y valve combo has a brass garden hose connection on one end to facilitate fresh water engine flushing or winterization. Or with a short length of garden hose you can use the engine as a pump to pump out the bilge in case of a serious leak. From the picture on the web site, looks like the seacock has 3 positions, one for the thru-hull, one for the garden hose fitting and one for OFF. Looks very compact, as you all know it is a pretty tight spot down there, so this looks like a good solution. And they claim it is ABYC approved.

Note: I have not tried this device, this is just an FYI.

Cheers.
