[Alberg30] Anchors?

Here on the Chesapeake, anchoring is generally pretty easy. The
bottom is soft and shallow. My general purpose anchor is a
danforth copy that came with the boat, probably around 12-16
pounds. I've never weighed it. The lunch hook is a smaller
danforth, that also came with the boat. Last year I got a
25 pound CQR and put 15 feet of 5/16 chain on it.

None of this is really hefty stuff, but with enough scope,
it's plenty for the Chesapeake Bay. If I were heading to
the islands, I might stick with the same anchors, but I'd
probably buy more chain. And if I found a good deal on a
larger danforth or collapsable fisherman, I'd probably snap
that up for backup. Still, my feeling is that, with enough
swinging room and rode, scope is the primary key to success
in anchoring.
