[Alberg30] Holding tanks

I don't know of anything that sticks to polyethylene, maybe your plastics
shop could advise you, and if there is, I would love to know what it is. In
your case I would use 3M5200 as a bedding compound for the top of the tank,
install the top using SS sheet metals screws but I would not tighten them
all the way. I would let the 5200 setup for about a week prior to final
tightening, so a "gasket" is formed. The 5200 won't adhere to the tank top,
but the mechanical fasteners with the 5200 gasket should keep it from
leaking. Check with you plastics supplier and let us know what they have to
say. When I replaced the top of my water tank, for the same reasons: the
gray caulking had dried; the rivets were leaking; and the aluminum was
oxidizing into my drinking water; I used a sheet of "G10" 1/4" epoxy. It's
worked fine now for years, but it was tough [nearly impossible] to cut.
