I tried using the Boatlife product and wasn't very happy with the results.
Next time around I used 3m's 101 which lasted for two seasons. It might have
gone longer, but I took the mast down for that winter, which relaxed the
tension on the chainplates. When I put the mast back up and tuned it tight
(as per a discussion about a year ago), the cauking lifted just enough to
open a few cracks in the cauking. Rather than dig it all out and redo it, I
just smeared on some more 101 onto the cracks. That lasted through last
season and this past winter (with the mast up). I checked it out as I turned
Free Spirit over to her new owner a few weeks ago, and it still looked fine.
Now it's up to Alfredo to keep an eye on it. (Hint, Hint!)
