[Alberg30] Relocate batteries

I have been following and participating in this conversation on battery location. I'm happy to find out that, based on this discussion, my batteries are in a "good" place.

Nonetheless, as a newcomer in Albergland, I have a question. Are the batteries that are awash with water located in the compartments under the sole? And if that is so, what route does the water take to get there and under what circumstances does it get there. I am having a hard time visualizing this - not the water washing around - but it getting there. Thanks for the insight.

Chris,

The batteries are in the compartments under the sole. I have not had any
issues with leakage since they are in battery boxes.

On the mast head issue, I made a decision when installing the ProFurl last
year to have an entire new mast head made eliminating the number of blocks
hanging off the old unit and installing two sheaves no longer using the
sheave installed in the mast. The fabricator also questioned the amount of
material entering the mast on the old unit. The new mast head fixture slides
into the mast approximately 2.5 inches to ward off any stress issues.

My boat had the batteries located in the port cockpit locker. As I am
finishing my rewiring I have moved them about 24" lower into the bilge I
believe where they were originally. I think moving this 100#'s or so
down there should help with her sail carrying ability? Has anyone had
any trouble with the batteries in the bilge? I plan to get agm's this
summer at some point so leakage should not be an issue. Also he fuel
tank is in the stbd locker was it on the centerline under the cockpit
originally? I also would like a description of the masthead arraignment
for jib and spinn halyards as mine are cobbed up there with chewing gum
and wire ties (high tech bailing wire)
