[Public-list] Blocks at mast, lines led aft etc

I can take some pictures on how the line lead aft to the cockpit and will
send them to you. I do not have a bail on the front of the mast. For the
spin pole downhaul, I use a really simple arrangement. I have a short pice
of line (approx 5') with a block spliced on one end. The other end get tied
to a bow cleat. The spin pole downhaul comes from the center of the pole,
thru the block and is led back to the cockpit where I have a cleat mounted
to the coaming on the stbd side. When we are not using the spinnaker,
everything is removed and the deck is clear.

Hi Mike,

The web pictures are great, of the cheek blocks, if you or anyone else has
any pictures of the path of lines going back on coach roof and how they are
mounted, I would love to see them.

Send them directly to me, bandwidth is not a problem.

Some thing else I'm looking for is pictures of how lines are led from a bale
at the forward base of mast to and from the spin pole downhaul, and how
lines are led aft towards the cockpit.

I would welcome any pictures and comments on the spin downhaul setup how
lines are led aft.

Thanks,

Hi John,

I mounted mine to the mast using cheek blocks. This was done coutless years
ago and has worked well. see:

I am going to install some deck hardware this weekend. Specifically, I
am going to put a block on each side of the mast step in order to run
the main and jib halyards back to the cockpit. Based on what I have
read about rotting of the core at the area of the mast step, I am
concerned about causing water intrusion at the point of the
installations. What options do I have? Could I actually install the
blocks on the mast at the base? Does anyone in the group know the
thickness of the cabin top in the vicinity of the mast step? Looking
for some advice before I start drilling!
