Richard,

I am not sure how #609 was built. On #114 the two center screws are through
bolted into the wooden mast beam, the 4 outer screws are tapped into the
glass on deck. I wouldn't cut the liner until an owner with a boat close to
yours in age can comment.

The aluminum plate with the 6 machine screws that sits on top of the 
deck to mount the mast is now loose.
Theeae screws do not seem to tighten into anything solid. They  seem to 
just have sealer on them and just sit in the holes. Is this normal or do 
I have top cut the liner open to find what they screw into. Would like 
some words of wisdom before I do anything.. Thanks
