Random notes on recent topics...

I'm sold on Cetol LIGHT with Cetol Clear Gloss as the finish coat for
the exterior wood.

Epiphanies makes a great finish for the cabin sole.

Here is a photo of Sabrina lending a tow line to a Catalina 22 and my
new vang connected to my first attempt at an Awlgrip paint job on the boom:

Finally, a little bragging... since Sabrina didn't make it to the race
course this season, I races on Krugerrand, a 25 year-old cruising boat
(Morgan 36) out of Solomon's this year. Here's a note from the captain
sent Thursday to the crew:

 > With a resounding finish of 'first in fleet' (we got the gun!)
yesterday, Krugerrand won the Southern Maryland Sailing Association
Wednesday night series. The series ended with the 20th race in a blow
from the remnants of the hurricane and under tornado watches. Wind was
over 20 knots with higher gusts and solid white caps on the Patuxent
river. Krugerrand got a perfect start at the pin end of the line with
our smallest jib #3 and a reefed main on starboard tack. Kruggie led
the entire fleet around all the marks to finish first in fleet (second
on corrected time). We ended up with 15 cups (places) for the season and
won the Wed. night series by one place over all three fleets. There are
over 40 boats that participated in the races.

Well that's about it, I'm off to do the SMSA Smith Island race today.
Last year when I did this race, it lasted for over 17 hours and we came
in second (well after midnight) in our fleet by something like 19
seconds on corrected time. Tomorrow Tracy and I are cruising with
friends to some sort of festival at Colonial Beach, VA.

Happy sailing this weekend!
