On our previous boat (Catalina 22) I found slab
reefing pretty easy single handed as long as it was
done before conditions completely deteriorated. It
was just a matter of heaving to, loosening the vang,
tightening the aft reefing line, loosening the main
halyard, tightening the forward reefing line, and
retightening the main halyard and vang before sailing
away. It seems like the same technique should work on
the A30.

The problem I have is that I have a main that isn't
quite old enough to throw away, but probably isn't
worth sinking any money into. I was hoping that I
could get by with the roller reefing for the time
being. I really didn't want to sink a lot of money
into a new sail this year. Anyone have a decent used
one for sale?

Comments or further suggestions on any of this
appreciated.
