[Public-list] Masthead Sheave Clarification

Someone wondering why some folks needed two sheaves pointed out
(possibly inadvertently) that there is at least one variation on the
Alberg 30 masthead sheave arrangement that does use multiple sheaves.

The sheaves we are ordering are intended as replacements for the
original single sheave masthead, NOT for the Sousa replacement masthead
shown in the linked photo (which would use much smaller replacement
sheaves):

The original masthead (at least on the boats I have seen) has a single
large sheave set a couple inches down from the masthead that runs the
entire fore and aft section of the mast, with the halyard entering on
the back side of the mast and exiting on the front. This sheave uses
the upper hounds bolt as its axle. The jib and spinnaker halyards run
through external blocks, the jib hanging on a tang on the frontside of
the mast just below the headstay, the spinnaker hanging on a small crane
just above the headstay.

This original style is the configuration we are ordering for, not the
replacement masthead. If you have the Sousa replacement masthead,
hopefully you do not need any replacements just yet.
