More seriously, though I've never fired a flare (on a boat), pyrotechnics 
tend to last forever - generations at least. Expiration dates which legally 
require you to buy new ones, don't mean anything except sales for the 
manufacturer. I would keep the expired ones on board. They take little 
space and could be useful. Put a couple in your car, too... Bob
