Typically the tolerances are .004". If your engine is mounted on flexible mounts (most diesels are) then, it is my opinion, that you also need a flex coupling. I was on one A30 (the engine mounts were too soft) and when the engine was put in gear, the whole engine moved 1" forward. Of course it does not move forward in a straight line with the shaft, it gets pushed by the shaft and angles forward. This changes the angle between the engine and the shaft, hence the need to a flex coupling. You still need to make your 'static' alignment to the .004" tolerance. The Atmomic 4s and Gray Marine engine were hard mounted to they did not move under load.

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! do not be afraid to speak in simple terms as I need real guidance on a very important item.
