[Public-List] Mast Heads for the Alberg(Larry)

I think the current version of 'Dennis Connor style' is 'Larry Ellison
style'. Maybe 'Ernesto Bertarelli style'...

Interestingly, and ironically, Dennis Connor's most high profile
racing these days is on board a beautifully restored, classic Q-Boat
called 'Cotton Blossom II'.

Thus DC himself seems to have relaxed his grip with age. Perhaps we,
with our traditional, beautiful, old-school boats, should follow his
lead... ???

That is kind of what I have been trying to suggest, that we relax a
little bit, recognize that racing Albergs is a gentlemanly,
cottage-industry kind of business (as Larry suggested and I completely
agree with him), and that going around crying foul and saying that
people who don't have 'strictly original' boats with exactly
as-originally-delivered masthead fittings and halyards should be
disqualified is not doing any A30 owner a service. Our boats are over
40 years old. I just don't think we should expect them to all be
configured exactly as originally delivered, and that is okay, and to
be honest, I don't think, in this case, it takes away from the
one-design nature of the racing. The boats are still, for all intents
and purposes, the same.

I hope you will not throw up your hands in disgust. Indeed, I hope to
see you out participating next year.

Kind regards,

JB
