I had to look at this issue over the summer.  Assuming your 
anodising has lifted  - which mine had done, I had to look for a solution.  
There were a few short term possibilities such as waxing however really these 
waxes still rely on a sound anodised finish.  If you have corrosion then waxing 
is unlikely to slow progression of the problem by any significant 
amount.

After much searching I settled on repainting.  I wrote up how I 
did this on the list a couple of month ago.  I could not see my way around it.  
It cost around $250 to do and lots hard work but it is a long-term solution.  I 
guess a possibility is to paint localised areas however prepartion for painting 
is tricky on aluminum surfaces but there are  some good non-toxic conversion coats 
around now.

Without more specifics of your problem then I suggest painting.  
But has the anodising lifted?  Is there paint over the anodising?  How bad is 
the corrosion and where on the mast is it?
