[Public-List] Alberg 30 or Triton?

The two Albergs are 1964 and 67. Both I think are on Yachtworld.com

The Triton is hull #99 and is an early boat. No liner. Fractional rig but these are easily converted to masthead rigs. One thing I did find out is that the Tritons used lead vs iron in the Albergs. Alberg wanted lead used but iron was used instead to save money. John Vigor rates the Alberg higher than the Triton I am just trying to figure out why.

Daniel.

I like your ambitious plan. A couple of things to consider. The triton has a fractional rig and the Alberg is masthead. A masthead rig has proven to be a more reliable. Especially offshore. Score one for the Alberg.

If you are looking at preliner boat(400 or under) they are built very strong. Robust hull to deck joint and tabbed in bulkheads I would go for the Alberg. My impression of the triton is it is not as strongly built. I admit I have limited experience with the triton. You can't go wrong with the Alberg.

Ranging from #3 Triton to 653 newer 66 model. and 1964 to 67 Alberg 30's. Prices range in the $,1000.00 range for the Triton to $10,000.00 for the Alberg. Either boats after refitting will be about the same price at $15,000.00. I am not planning on using the inboard engines but an out board. Which boat am I likely to like best. I am looking more for ease of use (Safety at sea) than comfort.
