Mike,

I am finally getting into Marisel - New atomic 4 (rebuilt ), new masthead
and base - custom machined CNC and  the usual stuff-

I have some questions that you may know the answer to before going to the
group---

 

Joel Lembo - remade muffler SS, would like to get details on design. Mine is
the old bronze - bottom is flacked off and could be a little rough getting
old fittings off -Moyer has one $460 SS but looks a little short and would
not fit my pipes as is- I don't want it to leak as I have to almost remove
engine to get it out.  Do you know how to contact him? Any thoughts on no
muffler and using the insert coupling where the water just goes into the
exhaust stream --?

 

Do you know the color of the GEL Coat. About 5 years ago I took the bottom
hull down to a black - under was a turquoise green -spots through-

I plan on taking it to the green but not sure about the black? The upper
hull has a green under coat with a burgundy then a Tan Bark color.

Clearly the Tan Bark was added as it is failing and looks like - well you
know-So I don't know how far to go and don't want to destroy the GEL Coat.

 

Under the main cockpit floor the fiberglass is real string - I think this
may have come from gas fumes - have you ever seen this and what would you
do? I am thinking of putting some epoxy with fabric.

 

I have the old engine out but having  a hard time with prop shaft. The
rubber hose was in bad shape between the stuffing box and stern tube.

Is that a special hose? 

I was thinking of having  the stuffing box turned down to match the stern
tube diameter - what do you think?

But first I need to get it out and the coupling and stuffing box won't budge
- I will try  removing the prop but does not look promising either. If I
have to cut the prop off so I can pull the shaft from the inside and them
press everything off - do you know where a good shop is in your area  - down
here is a little pricey and I have friends in the area who could pick up -
do you know what a new one would cost. I am assuming right hand threads?

 

Any info would be helpful - a long list in the group usually only gets the
first question-
