[Public-List] Masthead

I 'm having a new masthead machined and was going to make the forestay and
backstay pins at the same level to save weight but was wondering - does
anyone know why on the original masthead the backstay pin is about a half
inch higher than the forestay pin. I've looked around the yard and there are
several of each type. Any thoughts?
