[Public-List] Anchor windlass question

The windlass I ended up with was an old Vetus (I bought it used), which is
the same as the currently manufactured Lofrans 'Royal' manual. It has
served us well. I think the new ones sell for under $800 these days.

I didn't want an electric because I want to keep SURPRISE's systems as
simple as possible. I know it would be convenient to be able to raise the
anchor from the cockpit, and there is actually a lot more choice in
windlasses if one wants to go electric...but I wanted an old fashioned
manual one. I just like them better.
